About Our Mission and Request for Disclosure:

The Forward Enterprise Fund exists to support charities and social enterprises that create employment opportunities for ex-offenders and people in recovery. We have launched the Forward Enterprise Fund because of the barriers people with these backgrounds tell us that they face in finding work and, importantly, because of the untapped potential Forward sees in the people it support.

To ensure we meet our social purpose, we will sometimes require applicants to give more information on their backgrounds.

Applicants are not obliged to disclose information to us and each application will be considered. By asking people to tell us about their offending history or recovery journey, we want to ensure our funds are directed to meet our mission of increasing employment for ex-offenders and people in recovery.

When and how we will ask for this information:

If you are applying as a start-up or individual, we will want to know more about your history. We will ask you to self-disclose this information as part of our screening process alongside other questions about your application, like your business or idea, finances and how you plan to create jobs for ex-offenders or people in recovery. If you are an
ex-offender, we will ask questions about the nature of unspent convictions, when they happened, your sentence and time in the community post release (where appropriate).

As part of our application process we may also seek to understand victim awareness issues and media coverage relating to applicants.

If you are in recovery addiction, we’ll want to know how long you have been in recovery and how you manage your recovery. This information will help us understand your commitment to your own recovery.

Decisions we make about applications to the Fund will consider a number of areas including financial viability and growth, potential job creation and social impact, use of public funds and reputational risk.

This Commitment to Disclosure Form is used both by The Forward Trust for its start-up grants programme and the Forward Enterprise Fund.

What we will do with your Personal Information:

How we use the personal information you give us is subject to legislation called General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) which comes into law on May 25th 2018.
